1. INSTALLATION The Altec Response portable alarm unit is supplied with a power lead and a rechargeable battery. How to Connect the Altec Response POWER LEAD DISPLAY Altec Response OUTPUT SOCKET NAVIGATION KEYS POWER SOCKET tynetec CARING FOR PEOPLE AERIAL 1. The Altec Response will usually be desk mounted within 3 metres of an electric supply, if an extension cable is necessary care should be taken to ensure that no one can trip over the lead. 2. The Altec Response should not be located within 2 metres of a DECT telephone base station, failure to provide this separation may result in reduced range of the Altec radio devices. 3. Slide the battery compartment cover open on the rear of the Altec Response case and connect the battery lead. Refit the cover. 4. Plug the POWER LEAD into the POWER SOCKET and connect to an electric supply. 5. The OUTPUT SOCKET is only used for connecting additional devices such as a flashing light. 6. The flexible black AERIAL receives signals from the Telecare sensors and must not be cut‐down in length or coiled‐up. ...
3. NAVIGATING THE DISPLAY MENUS If the display is blank press the ENTER key once and the display will illuminate. Press the ENTER key again to display the Main Menu. Use the keys to scroll through the options; Main Menu V1.02A Radio Devices Audio Setup System Log The black or arrows in the top right hand corner of the display indicate that more menu options are available by System Log pressing the keys. LEARNING RADIO DEVICES Radio Devices From the Main Menu display select and press the ENTER key, the display will show; Radio Devices Learn Device Delete Device Add/Edit Device Press ENTER again and the display will prompt you to “Trigger the Sensor”. Learn Device Trigger Sensor :) Exit Activate the device to be learned. The display will show the device type and it’s 8 digit ID number (see note at the bottom of this page). Accept then press ENTER. If this is the device you activated press the key to select If it’s NOT the device you activated press the ENTER key to select Reject then try again. 5. DELETING RADIO DEVICES This procedure can only be used if you still have the device to be deleted, if the device has been lost see section 6 below. From the Main Menu display select Radio Devices and press the ENTER key. Press the key to select Delete Device and press the ENTER key. 7. RADIO DEVICE TEST MODE Radio Devices From the Main Menu display select and press the ENTER key. Press the key to select Radio Test and press the ENTER key. Radio Devices Radio Test Exit The display will prompt you to “Trigger the Sensor”. Radio Test Trigger Sensor :) Exit Activate the device to be tested. The display will show the device type, it’s 8 digit ID number and Slot number. To exit the mode select Exit then press the ENTER key. 8. 9. VIEW SYSTEM LOG Details of the last 128 alarm calls are stored in memory. From the Main Menu display scroll down to System Log and press the ENTER key. Use the keys to select between Back Mute Clear then press ENTER. Selecting “Back” will return back to original alarm display and message. Selecting “Mute” will silence the beep and alarm message for the preset mute time (see section 8). Selecting “Clear” will cancel the alarm. Call Waiting If more than one call exists the display will show 2 arrows in the bottom corners as below; SMOKE ALARM Room 000010 Kitchen Area Use the keys to view the other calls. The calls can be cleared in any order. 12. LOW BATTERY WARNINGS If the Altec Response is being used on battery and its charge is running low the unit will beep and announce “Low Battery” and flash an empty battery symbol on the display every 2 minutes. When the battery is exhausted the unit will announce “Powering Down” before turning itself off. Connect the power lead and leave on charge for at least 8 hours to restore full battery power. If the battery in a radio sensor needs replacing you will be alerted by a “Low Battery” call. This can occur anytime but it will usually follow a genuine call from the same device. SMOKE ALARM Room 000010 Low Battery Clear the call in the normal way but ensure the sensor battery is replaced as soon as possible. The Low Battery call will repeat after all subsequent calls (or each day) until the battery is replaced. Note: if there is no obvious means of replacing the battery then it may be a “sealed for life” device (eg. pendant, smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, etc. Please contact your Supplier or Tynetec’s customer support dept for advice. HOW TO REASSIGN EXISTING SENSORS If you need to reassign an existing radio sensor to another person/dwelling or simply amend its location/free text details then follow the procedure below; From the Main Menu display select Radio Devices and press the ENTER key, the display show; Radio Devices Learn Device Delete Device Add/Edit Device Press ENTER again and the display will prompt you to “Trigger the Sensor”.
