WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW...
What do Safe Call devices do?
Safe Call devices automatically disconnect all extension telephones around the home before the SayPhone or Reach alarm unit
begins to dial‐out an emergency call.
Why are Safe Call devices needed?
Safe Call devices will ensure the SayPhone or Reach can always make an emergency call even if other telephones around the
home are in use or have been accidently left off‐hook.
When will Safe Call devices be required?
Safe Call devices will only be required on installations where extension telephones are not connected via the "TEL" socket on the
base of the SayPhone or Reach alarm unit.
How are Safe Call devices connected?
Safe Call devices simply plug in‐line with extension telephones, no tools or rewiring required.
How many Safe Call devices can be connected?
One Safe Call device is required per fixed telephone extension.
Are Safe Call devices ALWAYS needed?
If the SayPhone or Reach is installed in accordance with the manufacturers installation manual (e.g. all telephones in the home are
connected via the "TEL" socket on the base of the unit) then Safe Call devices are not required.
Will Safe Call devices work with any SayPhone?
SayPhone V2's must have V1.03a firmware onwards.
SayPhone 21's must have V2.11a firmware onwards.
All versions prior to the above will require a firmware upgrade.
Will Safe Call devices work with any Reach?
Yes.
Will Safe Call devices work with any Service Provider?
Safe Call devices have been fully tested on the BT network but may not work on some alternative cable telephone providers.
