Installing the chain tensioner

•
Fit the timing chain tensioner, follow
the instructions below:
•
A - Remove the chain tensioner threa-
ded cap (1), the copper washer (2) and
the spring (3).
•
B - Release the chain tensioner one-
way cam (4) and push its rod (5) fully
into the chain tensioner housing.
•
C - Fit the tensioner and the timing
chain gasket (6) in the cylinder block
and tighten the two screws to prescri-
bed torque.
CAUTION
INSERT THE GASKET WITH THE MOULDED SIDE FACING
THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER END.
•
Fit the spring (3) and the threaded cap (1) of the timing chain tensioner; tighten the cap to
the pre-set torque.

FOR THE NEXT OPERATIONS, PAY ATTENTION NOT TO TURN THE CRANKSHAFT IN ORDER
TO AVOID DAMAGES OR A WRONG VALVE ADJUSTMENT.
•
Make sure that the slot (a) in the de-
compressor lever is in the specified po-
sition.
