4.1 Safe shutdown of non-safe outputs

4.1.1 Introduction

General

The following System 300S output modules meet the requirement for safe shutdown:

4.1.2 Safe shutdown

In this section, a security concept is shown, which shows how the safe shutdown of non-
safe outputs in the System 300S can be realized.
The digital output modules in the System 300S are designed stackable.
n
n The control happens by means of CPU respectively bus coupler via the backplane
bus, which has its own power supply.
n Each System 300S output module has its own DC 24V power section supply each
group.
CAUTION!
Please consider hardware version!
Please note that the safe shutdown is only possible from the hardware
versions listed below!
After emergency shutdown according to
following error scenarios occur:
n Overvoltage on the control side
n Short circuit by a power supply on the field side
n Short circuit on the field side within a group
n Failure of components in the module
The safe shutdown is exclusively supported by the modules listed above. For the safe
shutdown connect a safety switch such as an emergency stop, as shown in the figure, so
that if pressed both lines of the DC 24V power section supply of the group of the corre-
sponding System 300S module is switched off. In this case, the safety switch must have
an approval according to the current safety standards.
