Installation instructions

&
Please fold open the picture page!
The heater must be installed and repaired only by a
qualified technician. Read the installation instructions care-
fully before commencing the work, and then comply with
them!
The consequences of failing to adhere to the in-
stallation instructions or installing the equipment
incorrectly are potentially fatal!

Intended use

This heater was designed for installation in caravans.
The equipment must not be installed in boats, motor
homes (vehicle class M1), buses (vehicle classes M2
and M3), commercial vehicles (vehicle class N) or vehi-
cles for transporting hazardous goods.
If the equipment is installed in special vehicles, the applicable
regulations must be followed.
Other applications are possible subject to prior consultation
with Truma.

Regulations

Guarantee claims, warranty claims and acceptance of liability
will be ruled out in the event of the following:
– Modifications to the device (including accessories)
– Modifications to the exhaust duct and the cowl
– Failure to use original Truma parts as replacement parts and
accessories
– Failure to follow the installation and operating instructions.
This may also invalidate the device operating permit, which in
many countries also denotes cancellation of the vehicle oper-
ating permit.
The year when the equipment was first taken into op-
eration must be indicated with a cross on the type plate
(see installation example, 9).
The installation of the device in vehicles must comply with
the technical and administrative regulations of the respective
country of use (e.g. EN 1949). The national legislation and
regulations (e.g. DVGW Work Sheet G 607 in Germany) must
be observed.
More information about the regulations in the relevant des-
tination countries can be requested from our foreign repre-
sentatives (see www.truma.com).

Selecting a location

1. The device and its exhaust duct must always be installed so
that they are easy to access at all times for service work, and
also easy to remove and install.
2. The heater can be installed in the wardrobe with installation
box (Fig. A1) or free standing in the room with rear wall (Fig.
A2). When choosing a location it must be ensured that the
drill holes can be made in accordance with the floor template.
As standard the exhaust pipe connection is at the left-hand
side (control knob on right).
If required the device can also be supplied with the exhaust
pipe connection on the right-hand side.
3. The exhaust ducts and the cowls must be installed
such that exhaust gas cannot penetrate the interior of
the vehicle.
18
4. If a water supply is being installed in the vehicle, it must be
ensured that sufficient room is left between the water hoses
and the heat source (e.g. heater, warm air duct).
A water hose may only be routed at a distance of 1.5 m from
the heater at the warm air duct. The Truma SC hose clip (part
no. 40712-01) can be used with this distance or more. With
parallel routing (e.g. through a wall) a spacer (e.g. insulation)
must be fitted in order to avoid contact.
5. If a perforated drawer is installed over the heater that is
used for drying objects, for example, an intermediate shelf
made from non-coated wood must be installed (minimum
depth 250 mm). The covers of the installation compartment
must be made from temperature-resistant material (not PVC
or the like).

Exhaust duct via the roof cowl

An open roof window / sun roof in the vicinity of the
roof cowl may allow exhaust gas to penetrate the interi-
or of the vehicle. The cowl must therefore never be positioned
near this opening. If this is not completely possible, the heater
must not be used when the roof window / sun roof is open. In
order to make this clear, the installer must also affix a sticker
(part no. 30090-37100) to the roof window / sun roof in a
clearly visible location.
The air intake duct for the combustion air (with exhaust
duct via the roof) must not be within the range of the
wheel spray; fit splash guard if necessary.

The wall cowl must be attached such that there is
no fuel tank filler neck or fuel tank breather opening within
500 mm (A). When selecting the location, ensure that there
are no opening windows, hatches or ventilation openings for
the living compartment directly above and 300 mm to the
side.
For operating safety reasons it is essential to position
the wall cowl at the prescribed height. This height (dis-
tance between heater pedestal and centre of hole for exhaust
gas shaft) is oriented to the duct lengths that are used.
In order to ensure that the warm air is distributed evenly
and quickly and to minimise the surface temperature of
the heater unit, we recommend installing a Truma warm air
system.

Heater installation

– Installation in wardrobe with EKM installation box
1. Cut out front part of cabinet 440 mm high and 480 mm
wide. Temporarily insert installation box into cabinet cut-out.
2. Insert floor template into installation box in such a way
that it is exactly in the corners at the rear (L = left exhaust
pipe connection, R = right exhaust pipe connection). Secure
template with drawing pins. Remove installation box.
3. Drill Ø 15 mm floor opening for condensation trap as per
template and pre-punch the 4 points for the fastening screws.
4. Only if the exhaust air is discharged via the roof: Drill
Ø 65 mm hole for the combustion air intake duct.
The dimensions must be adhered to exactly.
5. Re-insert installation box and screw in place. Break out pre-
punched opening for leading through the exhaust duct at the
left (1) or the right (2) (see Fig. A1).
