IP Address
Internet Protocol Address
A numeric value to identify network devices that communicate via the TCP/
IP protocol.
In networks that use TCP/IP each device must have a unique IP Address,
similar to telephones having a unique telephone number.
This unique number of the format xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx can be assigned via one
of the following methods:
Automatically via DHCP by your LAN or ISP
Manually by the LAN Administrator.
IPSec
IP Security, developed for per packet integrity and encryption.
ISP
Internet Service Provider
Company or organization that provides you access to the Internet via one of
the following means:
Dial up modem via local loop
ISDN dedicated facility
xDSL via local loop
