TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM
The transceiver does
not turn ON.
Little or no sound
comes from the
speaker.
You cannot transmit,
or cannot select high
power.
Scan does not start.
No beep sounds.
The Main screen is not
displayed at power ON.
Individual or Group ID
cannot be set.
"??" blinks instead of
the position and time.
"NO POSITION"
and "NO TIME" are
displayed instead of
the position and time.

POSSIBLE CAUSE
• Bad connection to the power supply.
• Blown fuse.
• Squelch level is set too high.
• Volume level is set too low.
• The internal speaker is OFF.
• Some channels are set for low power or
receive only by regulations.
• The output power is set to low.
• More than 2 favorite channels are not set.
• The Key Beep function is OFF.
• MMSI (DSC self ID) code is not set.
• The entered ID code is incorrect.
First digit must be set to between ʻ1ʼ and
ʻ9ʼ for an Individual ID.
First digit must be set to ʻ0ʼ for a Group ID.
• 4 hours have passed since you manually
entered the position.
• The GPS position is invalid.
• The GPS antenna is not correctly
connected.
• The position and time have not been
manually entered.
SOLUTION
• Check the connection to the transceiver
and power supply.
• Repair the problem, and then replace
the fuse.
• Set the squelch to the threshold point.
• Set the volume to a suitable level.
• Turn ON the internal speaker.
• Change channels.
• Push [HI/LO] to select high power.
• Set the Favorite channels.
• Turn ON the Key Beep function.
• Set the MMSI (DSC self ID) code.
• Enter a correct ID code.
• Enter the position.
• Check the GPS antenna connection.
• Enter the position and time.
