8 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Possible Cause
Air in the hydraulic suction pipe
Hydraulic filter clogged
Faulty hydraulic pump
Faulty control valve
Faulty hydraulic lift cylinder
Faulty hydraulic relief valve
Connecting part loosened
Oil seal damaged
Pipe cracked
Down speed control valve locked in closed
position
Control valve failure
Hydraulic lift cylinder damaged
Lift shaft moving parts damaged
Possible Cause
Faulty power steering pump
Steering unit damaged or worn
Steering cylinder piston seal damaged or
worn
External oil leakage of oil tubes or hoses
Steering unit: Spline and column spline
does not align
Steering unit: Spool and sleeve damaged
by foreign material
Steering unit: Excessive tightening torque
of end cap bolt
Pump: Low flow
Faulty power steering pump
Power steering relief valve: pressure set-
ting low
Air in steering line if not used for a long time Bleed air in steering system
Air in suction tube
Cylinder piston seal damaged
Incorrect assembly of steering gear
Incorrect assembly of steering hoses
Seal damaged
Lack of oil
Restriction of oil flow in suction line
Air in system
Tighten the hydraulic filter and check all hy-
draulic suction connections
Replace hydraulic filter
Check pump for proper flow replace pump
if needed
Check hydraulic control valve and linkage
for proper operation repair as needed
Repair lift cylinder as needed
Check hydraulic system for correct pres-
sure setting, repair as needed
Tighten
Replace

Turn the knob counterclockwise, to open
valve
Repair or replace valve
Repair cylinder as needed
Repair or replace lift shaft parts as needed
Replace pump if needed
Repair or replace unit as needed
Repair cylinder as needed
Repair or replace tubes or hoses as

Check mounted condition of steering unit
and column
Replace steering unit
Apply proper torque of end cap hardware
Increase engine RPM, to increase pump
flow
Check pump , repair or replace if needed
Check power steering relief valve pressure
adjust to proper pressure setting
Check suction tube, repair as needed
Repair cylinder as needed
Repair steering gear as needed
Assemblel steering hoses correctly
Replace seal
Add oil as needed
Replace filter
Bleed air from system
