Setting Knotter Shaft Lock
With the needles at rest, leaf spring 9 engages without play on
the lower stop of ratchet 10 (Figure 79).
If necessary, slacken bolt 11 (Figure 80), then shift spring 9 all
the way against the lower stop on ratchet 10, finally secure
setting with bolt 11.
Setting Needles to Ram
If new needles have been fitted, adjust these first ("Adjusting
the needles", page 68). Trip the tying cycle as in Figure 10,
page 34 and "Tripping the tying cycle", page 36.






Slacken the clamping washer on the gear 19 and shift gear
19 in the direction of the arrow (Figure 81) until it is no
longer engaged with the drive gear 25.
Turn the drive gear 25 in the direction of the arrow until the
tip of the needle 14 (Figure 82) is aligned flush with the
upper edge of the base plate 15.
Block the drive gear 25, turn the flywheel in the direction of
the arrow (Figure 81) until the ram tip 16 clears the needle
point 14 (Figure 82) by approx. 25 mm on its working stroke.
In this position reengage the gear 19 (Figure 81) with the
drive gear 25.
Block the packer and the flywheel in doing this the setting
"packer to ram" must not be altered.
Slacken the clamping washer on the bevel gear wheel 20
(Figure 81). Remove the Seeger circlip ring 31 (Figure 39,
page 60) from the hexagonal cross shaft 21.
Withdraw hexagonal cross shaft 21 from the bevel gear
wheel 20, so that gear 19 (Figure 81) can be pulled off the
hexagonal cross shaft 21. Push gear 19 on again with a
displacement of 1/6 turn.
If the toothing of the wheels does not fit together then repeat
this procedure, turning gear 19 in the same direction until it
is correctly engaged with the tier drive wheel 25.
Push the hexagonal cross shaft 21 back into the bevel gear
wheel 20. Tighten up clamping washers on the gear 19 and
bevel gear wheel 20.
Remount the Seeger circlip ring 31 on the hexagon cross
shaft 21 (Figure 39, page 60).
Replace the plastic caps into the bore holes for the
hexagonal cross shaft.
Remove all blocking devices.
With the ram in this position check distance D (Figure 82):
Distance from the needle point 14 to the ram tip 16 must be
25 - 40 mm.
