Chapter 11: Inspecting equipment

Perform the following procedures on a regular basis for optimum performance.
• Securely attach the blank faceplates to the chassis and ensure the fans are running.
• Allow proper ventilation to the switch.
• Seat all the modules securely in the backplane and attach to the chassis firmly.
• Check if the module LEDs are functioning properly. Also check if they show normal readings.
• Ensure that the power supplies meet the power requirements for all the installed modules.
• Check if the power cords from each power supply are not frayed or damaged.
• Check if the cables are functioning properly. Securely attach the cables that run from each installed
module.
• Check if the chassis and the cable management device are securely attached to the rack, when rack-
mounted.
