7. APPLICATION OF FUNCTIONS
1) Points
Set the number of Modbus registers (No. of Points).
2) Source device
Set a servo amplifier station number and a Modbus register address. The address must be
converted into the device number readable on GT Designer3 before setting.
Example of converting a Modbus register address into a device number readable on GT
Designer3:
Reading the data of Modbus register address "2801h"
a) Convert the Modbus register address into decimal. Modbus register address "2801h" is equal
to "10241" in decimal.
b) Use the following equation to convert the Modbus register address into the device number
readable on GT Designer3.
Device number on GT Designer3 = 400000 + Modbus register address in decimal + 1
Based on a) and b) above, for "2801h", the device number on GT Designer3 is calculated as
follows: 400000 + 10241 + 1 = 410242
3) Destination device
Set a GOT data register (GD) for storing the data of a Modbus register.
(b) Setting the data type of a GD device
Set the data type of a GD device. For a 1-byte or 2-byte Modbus register, set 16-bit data type. For a
4-byte Modbus register, set 32-bit data type. For a Modbus register containing multiple elements, set
the data type according to the elements.
