CLUTCH DRIVE PLATES
Measure the thickness and claw width of the clutch drive plates
using vernier calipers. If a clutch drive plate is not within the ser-
vice limit, replace the clutch plates as a set.
$ Clutch drive plate thickness
Service Limit: 2.6 mm (0.102 in)
& 09900-20101: Venier calipers
$ Clutch drive plate claw width
Service Limit: 11.5 mm (0.45 in)
CLUTCH DRIVEN PLATES
Measure each clutch driven plates for distortion using the thick-
ness gauge. If a clutch driven plate is not within the service limit,
replace the clutch plates as a set.
$ Clutch driven plate distortion
Service Limit: 0.10 mm (0.004 in)
& 09900-20803: Thickness gauge
CLUTCH SPRING FREE LENGTH
Measure the free length of each clutch spring using vernier cali-
pers. If any spring is not within the service limit, replace all of the
spring.
$ Clutch spring free length
Service Limit: 31.0 mm (1.22 in)
& 09900-20101: Venier calipers
CLUTCH RELEASE BEARING
Inspect the clutch release bearing for any abnormality, espe-
cially cracks. When removing the bearing from the clutch, decide
whether it can be reused or if it should be replaced.
Smooth engagement and disengagement of the clutch depends
on the condition of this bearing.
