10. Insulating the refrigerant pipes
- Make sure to insulated the refrigerant pipes with an insulation tape. If the
pipe is not insulated, condensate may form and drop into the indoor.
- Wind the refrigerant pipes and the drain hose with vinyl tapes.
- When you bend the pipe, try to secure large bending radius (over 100mm)
to prevent the copper pipe from distorting.
- Use foamed polyethylene or EPDM foam, with thickness over 7mm, as an
insulator.
- If the pipe is installed in a place with humidity over 80% (such as within a
pit of a building, basement, sea shore, near hot spring or lake etc), use an
insulator with a thickness over 10mm.
- Insulate the high pressure (liquid pipe)/low pressure (gas pipe) pipe, and
finish it by winding up the vinyl tape around it.
- Make sure to insulate the pipe with no gap or cracks, and use adhesive
between the connection part of the insulator to prevent moisture from
entering.
- Make sure that the thickness of the insulator doesn't get thinner on the
bending part of the pipes.
- Use extra insulator to secure thickness when the insulator becomes thinner.
- When the pipe hanger is installed, wind the extra PE Foam type insulator
(over 5t) with the width 3 times wider than the hanger. (Do not use cable tie
as an hanger.)
11. Fixing and insulating the connection part of the pipe
- Check the leakage on the connection part of pipes and make
sure the insulated them afterwards. Pipe must be insulated
properly so that condensation does not form.
- Use foamed polyethylene with thickness over 5mm to
insulate the connection part of pipe.
- When you insulate the pipe connection part, make sure that
overlapping part of the insulator is over 30mm.
- Fix the pipe with a clamp and screws.
