If required, slacken the grub screw (2) and pull the tilt drag indicator assembly (27) off the tilt drag
knob assembly (26).

Remove two plugs (5) from the face of the tilt drag housing (6).
NOTE: The tilt drag unit assembly contains 9 cc of Vinten Fluid No. 3. Be prepared to catch any
fluid that may leak from the assembly.

Pull apart the tilt drag housing (6) and the mechanism side cover (11). Light tapping is
permissible.

Remove the drag actuator block (18) and two drag wedges (19) from inside the tilt drag housing.
8.8
Remove two screws (10), turn the drag shoe assembly (9) through 90° and pull it off the tilt drag
housing.
8.9
Pull out the tilt seal ring (7) and remove and discard the omniseal (21) and the 'O' ring (20).
8.10 Wipe all traces of Vinten Fluid No. 3 from components.
8.11 Carefully remove the circlip (13) from the mechanism side cover (11). Pull out the bearing (15),
remove the seal shim (12) and remove and discard the omniseal (16).

Tilt brake unit assembly

To remove the tilt brake unit assembly:

Referring to
(4). Move the PCB housing for access to the tilt brake unit screws.

Referring to
housing (13).
9.3
Carefully pull the tilt brake unit assembly off the mechanism housing. Slight tapping of the LH
side plate may be necessary to free the assembly.

To dismantle the tilt brake unit assembly
10.1 Remove the tilt brake knob
10.2 Turn the tilt brake disc (2) until the brake disc is free of the calliper (12).
10.3 Pull the tilt brake disc (2) off the LH side plate (5). Light tapping is permissible. If required,
remove the bearing (3) from the tilt brake disc.
10.4 Unscrew and remove the brake shaft (6).
10.5 Pull the calliper (12) out of its housing, taking care to retain the one outer and two inner brake
pads (11, 13).
