17.7 Push the assembled seal ring into position on the tilt drag housing (6).
17.8 Install the drag shoe assembly (9) on the tilt drag housing (6) and secure with two screws (10),
using Loctite 222E. Do not overtighten screws (10).
17.9 Position two drag wedges (19) and the drag actuator block (18) in the drag shoe assembly (9),
trapping the drag actuator block under the cut-out of the tilt drag housing boss (6).
17.10 Fill the spring hole in the tilt drag housing (6) with LM grease and install the spring (4) and the
ball (3).
17.11 Lightly lubricate the thrust bearing (24) with LM grease. Install a thrust washer (23), the thrust
bearing (24) and a second thrust washer (23) on the shaft of the tilt drag knob (26).
17.12 Lightly lubricate the 'O' ring (25) with LM grease and install on the shaft of the tilt drag knob (26).
17.13 Screw in the assembled tilt drag knob.
17.14 Install the assembled tilt drag mechanism in the mechanism side cover (11).
17.15 Using a syringe through the plug holes (5), fill the bowl with 9 cc of Vinten Fluid No. 3.
17.16 Install two plugs (5). Wipe off any excess fluid.
17.17 Position the RH side plate on the tilt drag housing and secure with three screws (22).
17.18 Install the blanking cap (28).
18 To install the tilt drag unit
18.1 Position the assembled tilt drag unit in the mechanism housing (14), ensuring that the pin on the
spring actuator seats correctly in the needle roller (8). Secure with three screws (17).

Pan unit assembly

19 To assemble the pan unit assembly
19.1 If removed, install the pan drag indicator (1) on the pan drag knob (2) and secure with grubscrew
(3).
19.2 If removed, press the bearing (21) into the pan drag housing (20).
19.3 Lightly lubricate the 'O' ring (14) with LM grease and install in the pan drag housing (20).
19.4 Lightly lubricate the thrust bearing (9) with LM grease. With the pan drag housing upside-down,
install a thrust washer (8), the thrust bearing (9) and a second thrust washer (8).
19.5 Lightly lubricate the omniseal (18) with LM grease and install in the seal plate (17), ensuring
omniseal is correctly oriented.
19.6 Lightly lubricate the 'O' ring (10) with LM grease and install on the seal plate (17).
19.7 Push the assembled seal plate into position on the pan drag housing (20).
19.8 Install the drag shoe assembly (16) on the pan drag housing (20) and secure with two screws
(15), using Loctite 222E. Do not overtighten screws (15).
