Then. mount 2nd ring and the top ring to
the
piston. Note
the follo\ving before
mounting them.

The letter "R" is stamped
on
the
respective end surface o f 2nd ring and
the top ring.
Mount
them with the
stamped end surfaces turned upward.
*
How to discriminate top
ring and 2nd
ring. Top ring and middle (2nd) ring
differ according to the shape of ring face.
In addition the face of top ring is
chrotne-plated whereas that of 2nd ring
is not. The color of 2nd ring appears
darker than that of the tap one.
Piston should he n~ounted
to
the connecting
rod
in
the following manner
Before mounting the piston, be sure
to
remove tthc carbon left on the upper part o f
the piston using a soft metal scraper.
Coat the piston pin with engine oil. and
insert the piston pin into the piston by
pushing it by hand. directing the arrow
mark on the top
of
the piston totvards the
exhaust
side.
Place a rag beneat11 the piston. and install
the
circlip,

Replace
the circlip by
a new one. Once
removed, the circlip becomes misshapen
and loses its tension. I t should always be
replaced.
The circlip should be installed in such n
position
that the mating ends of the
circlip do
not coincide with the groove
portion of the piston.
Before putting on the cylinder.
oil the big
and small ends
of
cnch connecting sod and
also the sliding surface of each piston.
Check that the "0'" rings 3 ' and
(2)
arc
accurately positioned in the groove.
