Driver Installation Under Linux
If prompted to overwrite, type
If you are using Red Hat 9.0, replace
in the previous example.
For Redhat workstation on AMD Opteron
cp /mnt/cdrom/packages/drivers/linux/redhat/
ws3_amd64/3w-9xxx.* /lib/modules/
<put kernel string here>
3w-9xxx.o
If prompted to overwrite, type
Use the appropriate module name and kernel string, as
described under step 3.

Add the following line to
/etc/modules.conf:
alias scsi_hostadapter 3w-9xxx

Update the modules.dep file, by issuing the following
command:
Run /sbin/depmod -a

Run mkinitrd by entering the following:
/sbin/mkinitrd -v -f /boot/initrd-
<kernel string1>
where <kernel string1> is the /lib/modules directory from
which to copy the 3w-9xxx driver.
Example:
/sbin/mkinitrd –v –f /boot/initrd-2.4.18-14.img
2.4.18-14

If you are using the GRUB boot loader, skip to Step 5.
If you are using the LILO boot loader, run LILO to update the
boot record on disk by typing the following:
/sbin/lilo
