Driver Installation Under Linux
Note about variables:
conventions are used for variable text:
<kernel string> refers to the kernel version (i.e., 2.4.
2-2 smp)
Check 3ware's website for supported versions of the
kernel and supported versions of Red Hat Linux.
To install the 3ware driver and update the RAM disk

Log in as root and open a console window.

Mount the CD which contains the 3ware driver:
To mount the CD, type:
and press Enter.

Copy the driver:
For Redhat workstation on Intel x86
cp /mnt/cdrom/packages/drivers/linux/redhat/
ws3_x86/intel/3w-9xxx.* /lib/modules/
<put kernel string here>
3w-9xxx.o
If prompted to overwrite, type
If you are using Red Hat 9.0, replace
in the previous example.
For Redhat workstation on AMD Opteron
cp /mnt/cdrom/packages/drivers/linux/redhat/
ws3_amd64/3w-9xxx.* /lib/modules/
