Using Internal Disk Drives

The following disk drives can be installed in the 7013 J Series system:
IBM 1.1GB SCSI-2 SE with a 1.1GB storage capacity
IBM 2.2GB SCSI-2 SE with a 2.2GB storage capacity
IBM 4.5GB SCSI-2 SE with a 4.5GB storage capacity

Operator Controls of a Disk Device

A unique feature of 7013 J Series mass storage devices is that they can be removed from
the system while the system is running. This feature is called " Hot Removability Capability ."
Disk drives used in the 7013 J Series system include two LED indicators.

Disk Drive with Operator Controls
The yellow LED is blinking when the disk is operating. When the
light is off the disk is idle.
The green LED indicates if you can start the procedure to remove
the appropriate hard disk. After you have run the proper software
commands, you must wait until the light is switched off. For more
information on device removability, refer to "Hot Removability Capability",
on page 4-2.
