Adjustable Brake Force at Rear Wheel with Drum Brake
Tension Adjustable Seat (fig. 59)
If after a longer period of use the seat fabric has stretched, it can be readjusted to restore optimal pressure
distribution of the upper legs.
An aluminum bar at the side of the seat fabric connects the seat fabric to the cross brace.
First slightly loosen all attachment screws of this bar, and then the hook and loop connections at the underside
of the seat. Retighten the seat fabric and fix it in this position using the hook and loop fastener. Unfold the
wheelchair and retighten all screws.
The cross brace must be seated fully in the support guides. Finally reattach the hook and loop fastener.

Adjustable Back (fig. 60)
If your Avantgarde is equipped with the "Adjustable Back" option, you can adjust your back fabric according to
your requirements.
Remove the back upholstery and loosen the hook and loop connection of the straps. These straps may be
individually adjusted and can be reattached then to the desired setting. Replace the back upholstery and
attach it to the seat using the hook and loop fastener.
Mounting the Anti-Tipper
1. Insert the expansion spring (item 1) with the eyelet closed into the desired posterior frame tube. Put the
distance sleeve (item 2) and the screw (item 3) through the lowest bore hole (Ø 8 mm) and through the eyelet
of the spring. Do not tighten the nut (item 4) too snugly.
2. Hook a cord (item 5) or a second expansion spring into the open eyelet of the first expansion spring (item 6)
and push the anti-tipper (item 7) into the posterior frame tube.

In order to achieve optimal braking effect, the brake force can be adjusted
by means of the adjustment screw (item 1). By turning the adjustment
screw to the left, brake force will increase, and by turning the screw to the
right, brake force will reduce.
Please, turn the adjustment screw to the left until frictional noise will
occur at the wheel. Then screw in the adjustment screw until the
frictional noise will disappear. The wheel then runs freely. After finishing
the adjustment, fix the adjustment screw by tightening the counter nut
(item 2).
Be certain, that the brake force of both rear wheels is adjusted equally.
Be certain, that the drum brake shows sufficient strength only, if the
manual brake is set to the second ratchet position.
