held by the screws installed in the dump valve to open it and defuel the air-
craft fuel tank.
NOTE: Assembly a hose with proper diameter and a bracket together
with the GSE023 and put the other hose end into a suitable
fuel container.
CAUTION: DO NOT OPERATE THE FUEL PUMP WITHOUT FUEL (DRY
OPERATION). DRY OPERATION WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO
THE SYSTEM.
(3) Monitor the defueled quantity on the MFD (Multi-Function Display) fuel
synoptic page or on the EICAS (Engine Indication Crew Alert System) fuel
indicating area. When you have the quantity of fuel to be defueled, turn
clockwise and pull down the GSE 023 to remove it, close the dump valve
and stop the aircraft fuel-tank defueling.
(4) Remove the screws from the dump valve.
D. Job Close-Up
(1) Lubricate a new face seal O-ring with grease DC-33 and install it to the
drain valve.
WARNING: DO NOT LET JET FUEL AND LUBRICATING OILS TOUCH
YOU. THESE FLUIDS CAUSE INJURY TO THE SKIN.
(2) Remove the screws from the drain valve.
(3) Put the drain valve in its position, install the screws and torque them to
1.36 - 1.69 N.m (12 - 15 lb.in).
(4) Close the access door 194BL.
(5) De-energize the aircraft (GHSH TASK 24-41-00-860-802-A).
(6) Remove the grounding cable(s) from the aircraft (GHSH TASK 20-40-02-
910-801-A).
