TROUBLESHOOTING
MANUAL STARTER DISCONNECT (TOGGLE SWITCHES)
CIRCUIT PROTECTION:
The engine control system is protected by a 20 amp manual reset cir-
cuit breaker located on the engine as close as possible to the power
source.
Manual Control (toggle switch) troubleshooting.
Problem
Preheat depressed,
no panel indications,
fuel solenoid,
electric fuel pump
and preheat solenoid
not energized.
Start switch
depressed, no
starter engagement.
Start depressed,
panel indications OK.
Start solenoid OK.
Fuel solenoid not
functioning.
No ignition, cranks,
does not start.
Fuel
solenoid energized.
Probable Cause
Battery switch or
power not on
20 amp circuit
breaker tripped
Connection to
solenoid faulty
Faulty switch
Faulty solenoid
Loose battery
connection
Low batteries
Poor connections to
fuel solenoid.
Defective fuel run
solenoid.

Faulty fueling system

Verification
Check switch and/or bat-
tery connections.
Reset breaker if opens
again, check preheat
solenoid circuit and
"run" circuit for shorts
to ground.
Check connection.
Check switch with ohm-
meter.
Check that 12 volts
present at solenoid
connection.
Check battery
connection.
Check battery charge
state.
1.
Check mechanical
positioning of fuel
solenoid for plunger
bottoming.
2.
Manually check
movement of fuel run
solenoid plunger and
throttle arm.
1.
Check for fuel to
generator system.
2.
Check for air in
fuel system. Allow
system to self-bleed.
3.
Fuel lift pump
failure.
