Setting up Apache Web Server 2.2

As an alternative to use the Microsoft Internet Information Service, you may choose to use
the Apache Web Server. This can be interesting if you already installed the Apache Web
Server on your server for other purpose . In this case, the Microsoft Internet Information
Service should not be installed.
Nvertheless, in a way similar to configuration with IIS, you have to configure the OspInter-
face DCOM settings as described in section 13.5 (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows
Server 2008) or in section 13.6 (Windows Server 2003).

10.4.1 How to get and install the Apache Web Server

Web site at the time of writing) :
Click "HTTP Server" in the "Apache Projects" list at the right of the page
Choose the last available correction release of version 2.2 and click download
Choose the version available as a MSI installer (binaries), and download the file on your
server
You can install the Apache Web Server by starting the installation wizard; the proposed de-
fault values are appropriate.
You can test that the Apache Web Server is correctly installed and started by using a
browser on your server and by specifying "localhost" as address; the Web Server will re-
spond by a simple page displaying "It works!".
