B.1.1 Oracle 11g Installation on SLES 11

1 Follow the installation instructions provided in the SUSE
installation manual. Install SLES 11 and the default packages along with the Oracle Server
Base and the C/C++ Compiler and Tools.
2 Log in as .

3 The account for the oracle user is disabled. Enable the account by changing the shell for the
oracle user from
/bin/false

If the oracle user account does not exist, create an account by using the following commands:
To add a dba group:
groupadd -G dba
To add an oracle user:
