Setting Data for Unused Axes

4-8-1 Settings Required for Unused Axes

When the Position Control Unit is mounted to a C200HX/HG/HE-series Pro-
grammable Controller, data can be easily set using the SYSMAC-NCT Support
Tool. The SYSMAC-NCT Support Tool can be used for setting, transferring, and
saving data, and for monitoring the Position Control Unit's status.
For details regarding SYSMAC-NCT Support Tool operation, refer to the SYS-
MAC-NCT Support Tool Operation Manual (W324).
Note Position Control Units for which the SYSMAC-NCT Support Tool is used for
transferring and saving data and for monitoring PCU status must be mounted to
the Programmable Controller's CPU Rack or Expansion I/O Rack. A PCU that is
mounted to a Remote I/O Slave cannot be accessed.
The data settings required when not using all axes for the C200HW-NC213/413
are explained below.
At power up or restart, the PCU checks the parameters for all axes. If illegal data
is detected, an error is generated for the relevant data and all operations other
than data transfer or saving are disabled. Also, if an attempt to transfer illegal
data is made, an error is generated and all axes are decelerated to a stop. There-
fore, parameters must be set correctly for all axes, including unused axes.
In particular, if the DM area is specified in the parameter designation setting in
the common parameter area (i.e., if DM area word m+2 is set to 0001 or 0101),
because the parameters for all axes are transferred at power up or restart, the
parameters for all axes must be set, including those for unused axes.
The settings that are necessary for unused axes when the DM area is specified
in the parameter designation setting are given in the following table. Values
other than 0 must be set for maximum speed, origin search high speed, and ori-
gin search proximity speed, even for unused axes. When using the default set-
tings for the parameters saved in the PCU's flash memory, there is no settings
are required.
