Maintenance Overview

Your instrument needs to be serviced and maintained to avoid contamination,
which prevents signal suppression, reduces background noise, minimizes adduct
formation, and enables the instrument to operate at its peak performance. In
order to achieve the most accurate results, routine and periodic maintenance is
crucial.
The difference between routine and periodic maintenance is that routine
maintenance is done regularly to keep the equipment in good working condition,
while periodic maintenance is done at specific intervals to prevent breakdowns or
failures.
MassHunter Acquisition software keeps track of the number of injections and the
number of days since a maintenance activity was performed for your TQ
instrument using the Early Maintenance Feedback (EMF) dashboard. EMF allows
you to plan for scheduled maintenance when it is convenient and increase the
instrument uptime. If a limit is exceeded for an EMF item that is enabled, then the
EMF icon changes to yellow, and the tooltip displays the cause in the device
pane. Set the limits for each EMF item in the Maintenance dialog box following
instructions detailed in online help.
This Maintenance chapter is broken down into maintenance procedures listed by
routine, then periodic maintenance tasks with their recommended schedule of
performance, with the EMF procedures cross referenced in the final section.
Consult the online help or contact your Agilent consultant for further information.
