Removing
1 Disconnect the nebulizer sample line.
2 Disconnect the sample nebulizer gas tubing.
3 Disconnect the heater cable.
4 Disconnect the corona needle voltage cable.
5 For APPI, disconnect the heater cable.
6 Disconnect the serial output cable.
7 Disconnect the external power supply cable.
8 Open the latch of spray chamber.
The spray chamber operates at very high temperature. Do not continue until
WAR NIN G
the spray chamber is cool.
9 Open the spray chamber.
10 Remove the ion source by lifting it along the axis of its hinges.
The spray shield can be hot. Be careful not to burn yourself when you remove
WAR NIN G
the spray shield.
11 If you are changing to a different source type, remove the spray shield.
Installing
1 Make sure the small hole is at the top ("12 o'clock position").
2 If needed, use a T10 Torx screwdriver to loosen the two screws in the end
plate.
3 Rotate the ESI spray shield clockwise until the hole is in the correct position.
4 Gently tighten the Torx screws again.
5 Install the ion source, sliding it along the axis of its hinges.
6 Close the spray chamber.
7 Close the spray chamber latch.
