For the vertical mounting position with the fan cover facing upwards, provide protection to
prevent foreign objects falling in, e.g. with an appropriate cover.

Condensation drain hole (optional)

When installing the surface-cooled motor, take care that the condensation drain holes are at the
lowest point.

General information on motor connection

Unintentional starting of the drive unit
Perform any work only when the machine is at a complete standstill, disconnected from the
power supply and locked out so that it cannot be switched on again. This also applies to
auxiliary circuits, e.g. anti-condensation heating.
Check that the unit is in a no-voltage condition.
Deviations in the voltage, frequency, waveform and/or symmetry of the line supply or
converter operation increase the temperature rise.
This also affects the electromagnetic compatibility.
Before starting work, make sure that a protective conductor is securely connected.
Note
For temperatures below -30 °C, prefabricated cables must always be permanently routed.
Alternating bends are not allowed at these temperatures.
Connect the motor in such a way that a permanently safe electrical connection is ensured.
Wire ends must not protrude. Use matching cable end pieces.
Three-phase motors are connected to the 3 line conductors L1, L2 and L3 of a three-phase
system or to the motor phases of a converter. Connect the motor cable to the terminal board
in the motor terminal box. Arrange the terminal link according to the circuit diagram for star
or delta connection in the terminal box. The rated voltage of the motor in the operating
circuit must match the line-to-line voltage of the line supply. When the 3 phases operate in
sequence and are connected to the terminals of the motor in alphabetical order U1, V1 and
W1, the motor rotates clockwise when viewing the DE motor shaft. The direction of rotation
of the motor is reversed when interchanging two connecting cables. Labeled terminals are
provided and must be used to connect the protective conductor.
If the motor was ordered with a specific connection method, the terminal links are already
connected to the terminal board as star or delta connection.
