Connecting Cables to the Test Set
Check the mating surfaces of the test port connectors and the cable connectors for
cleanliness. If they are dirty, clean them with isopropyl alcohol and a foam swab or lintless
cloth.
The first time a cable is used it should be gaged for proper center conductor recession.
Extend the threaded sleeve on the test ports by spinning their connector nuts clockwise.
Retract the threaded sleeve on the cable by spinning the connector nut counter-clockwise
(viewed with the end of the cable towards you).
Hold the cable with one hand while screwing the cable connector nut onto the extended
threads of the test port connector. Use the 3/4-inch, 1.3 Nm torque wrench, supplied with
the test set, to tighten the connection to the proper torque.
For useful information on maintaining 7-mm connectors, refer to the Connector Care Quick
Reference Card (part number 08510-90360).
