Introduction
Anti-static work surface
To lessen the chance of ESD damage when installing the test set for use on a bench, place
it on a grounded, anti-static work surface as shown in Figure 2-2. The anti-static surface
should extend far enough in front of the test set to provide effective protection at the test
ports and cable ends.

Connecting the test set
Mating connectors. 85110L ports 1 and 2 are 7-mm connectors.
The test set interconnect connector is a series-D subminiature female connector with seven
RF connections. It mates with the corresponding male connector.
The 8510C system bus connector is a female GPIB type connector and mates with the
corresponding male connectors of GPIB cables.
Power and control connections. Figure 2-3 shows the following connections (with the
exception of line power) and the required RF source connections.
