Analyzing the Signal Path Check Results
Power loss or power hole. If the symptom is power loss or a power hole in all four signal
paths, the failure must be at a point where it can affect all four paths. Places to check:
• the RF and LO sources
• the source RF cables
• the test set power supplies
Refer to the source manuals for troubleshooting help.
Symptom in wide BW only. If the symptom occurs only in wide BW, pulsed-RF mode or
only in normal BW nonpulsed-RF mode, but not in both, the failure is most likely in the
85102. If the symptom only occurs in the wide BW, pulsed-RF mode of operation, refer to
the Pulsed-RF IF Signal Path Description section and then use the 85102 IF/Detector
Option 008 Pulsed-RF IF Path Troubleshooting flowchart. Both are in the System Service
and Troubleshooting section of the 85108L System Manual.
Symptom in normal BW only. If the symptom only occurs in the normal BW, nonpulsed-RF
mode of operation, refer to the 8510C service manual.
