Precautions

Operating
Beware of damage from electro-static discharge (ESD). The input connectors
CAUTION
(test ports or cables or adapters connected to the test ports) are very sensitive
to ESD. Use a grounded wrist strap when attaching devices to the input
connectors.
During the retrace time of the network analyzer, the source power may

remain on.
Observe the following normal precautions in handling and operating the test set:
• Do not exceed the front-panel operating level power-input as shown in
Table 1-3 Operating Power Level

To protect the switch splitter, any power in excess of +17 dBm into a port of

the 85110L must be offset by an equal or greater amount of attenuation. The
power into the test port must never exceed +47 dBm.
• Do not torque anything to the test port connector with greater than 136 Ncm (12 in-lb)
of torque. The wrench supplied with your accessory kit is calibrated to 12 in-lb.
• Do not torque any SMA connector on the back of the set with greater than 56 Ncm
(5 in-lb) of torque.
Service
The voltages in this test set require normal caution for operator safety. Service should be
performed only by qualified personnel. Service strategy, troubleshooting procedures,
replaceable parts and similar information for the 85110L test set is provided in this
manual (refer to "Contacting Agilent" on page iv).
