Disassembly
10. Lightly fi le the shift shaft to remove the indentations left by the set
screws. This will prevent damage to the case and make the forks
and shaft easier to remove. Figure 5.10.

11. Remove the front declutch shift cylinder cap bolts. Then remove
the cylinder cap and cylinder sleeve by sliding them off the piston.

12. Remove the piston, spring, and nylon stop ring. If necessary, the
shift cylinder adapter may also be removed from the case. Figure
5.12.

13. Inspect the adapter o-rings and the shift shaft o-rings and felt
wiper for damage. Replace if necessary. Figure 5.13.
