The Heart Rate Monitor

There are two types of heart rate monitor available for the Pursuit / Perform Cycle. The first is the hand pulse monitor which is standard on all cycles.
The second is a cordless Polar chest strap monitor, which is an optional extra.
When the chest strap monitor is used it automatically overides any signal from the hand pulse monitors.
If the battery fails (it has an estimated life in excess of three years) then the plastic strip must be replaced. If you wish to monitor
your heart rate, you should always fit the heart rate monitor before you select one of the exercise programmes.
To use the hand pulse monitor, simply place your hands on the sensors (which are built into the handle bars).A
that the sensor is picking up a heartbeat.
The optional Polar chest strap monitor is a cordless device encased in a soft plastic strip. It is designed to fit horizontally around the chest via an
adjustable elasticated strap (see Figure E on page 21). Power for the monitor is supplied by a small lithium battery which is also built into the strip.
