12 QUALITY OF CUT
12.2 THE STEP CUT ________________________________________________________
NOTE: The Arrow indicates direction of travel.
The HOC (height-of-cut) settings are different on the side of one
cutting unit or the cutting cutter decks are set at different
heights.
Worn roller bearings or deck caster wheels.
Cutting implement movement is decreased.
Changes in turf density
The Machine ride height is not equal from side to side.
Cutting implement height is not equal from side to side.

Possible Cause
"Step cutting" occurs when the grass is cut higher
on one side. The cause is mechanical wear or
incorrect setting of the roller.

Check HOC adjustment of cutting unit. (Refer to Parts and
Maintenance Manual.)
Check and replace the roller bearings, deck caster wheels.
Check and remove the cutting unit movement limit.
Change the direction of cut.
Check and adjust the tyre pressure. (Refer to Parts and
Maintenance Manual.)
Check and adjust the mower weight distribution.
