12.3 SCALPING ___________________________________________________________

Possible Cause
The HOC (height-of-cut) settings are low for the
conditions.
The mower can not follow the ground in this direc-
tion.
You try to cut deep grass in one try.
Cutting at more than the recommended speed.
"Scalping" is a condition in which some areas are
cut shorter than the set height of cut. This results in
very short grass or brown areas. The cause is a low
height-of-cut (HOC) setting, rough surface.

Check and adjust the HOC settings.
Change the direction of cut.
Increase the HOC.
Decrease the cutting speed.
