Transmission Will Not Operate in Either Direction (Continued)
Cause
Wheel motor(s) worn or damaged.
NOTE: If a motor has internal damage, it is likely that
the pump and other motor are also damaged.
Pump worn or damaged.
Wheel Motor Turns While Unloaded, But Slows Down or Stops When Load Applied
Cause
Scored valve plate on wheel motor.
Scored or worn piston shoes on wheel motor.
Wheel Will Not Turn
Cause
Severely scored internal parts in wheel motor.
Brakes binding.
Splined coupler between wheel motor shaft and
planetary wheel drive damaged or broken.
Planetary wheel drive damaged.
Wheel Motor Will Not Hold Load When System is in Neutral
Cause
No make up fluid from charge pump.
Scored valve plate or piston shoes on wheel motor.
Reelmaster 6500-D/6700-D
Correction
Inspect wheel motors and repair or replace if worn or
damaged.
Inspect pump and repair or replace if worn or
damaged.
Correction
Remove backplate and inspect bronze surface of valve
plate. Replace valve plate if scored.
Disassemble motor and inspect condition of shoes on
pistons. Replace rotating kit assembly as a complete
set. DO NOT lap pistons.
Correction
Disassemble motor completely. Inspect and clean all
parts. Replace all worn parts or replace complete
motor if necessary. Flush hydraulic system.

Correction
TEST NO. 1. Inspect charge relief valve R5.
Repair or replace if defective.
Disassemble motor and inspect valve plate and piston
shoes. Replace as required.
