Transmission or Hydraulic System is Operating Hot
Cause
Oil in reservoir is below level.
Contaminated oil.
Oil in system too light.
Heat exchanger defective.
Charge pressure low.
Transmission pressure high.
Towing by-pass is open or defective.
Wheel motor(s) worn or damaged.
NOTE: If a motor has internal damage, it is likely that
the pump and other motor are also damaged.
Pump worn or damaged.
Transmission Operates in One Direction Only
Cause
External control linkage misadjusted, disconnected,
binding or damaged.
Servo control valve faulty.
Transmission relief valve faulty.
Pump worn or damaged.
Reelmaster 6500-D/6700-D
Correction
Fill reservoir to proper level.
Drain reservoir and refill with clean oil.
Drain reservoir and refill with proper viscosity oil.
Check oil cooler for obstructed air flow.
Replace damaged or plugged oil cooler.
TEST NO. 1. Inspect charge relief valve R5.
Repair or replace if defective.
Reduce transmission load. Check to make sure brakes
are not engaged.
Close towing by-pass valve. Repair or replace if
necessary.
Inspect wheel motors and repair or replace if worn or
damaged.
Inspect pump and repair or replace if worn or
damaged.
Correction
Adjust or repair.
Inspect control valve for:
Plugged control orifices.
Damaged mounting gasket.
Misadjusted or damaged neutral return spring.
Broken control connector pin.
Galled or stuck control spool.
Neutral switch misadjusted.
Repair or replace control valve if necessary.
TEST NO. 2. Inspect relief valves R6 and replace if
necessary.
NOTE: Relief valves can be exchanged in forward and
reverse pump circuits for testing.
Replace pump.
