Self-Aligning Center Bearings
A self-aligning center bearing accepts ± fi ve degrees of angular
misalignment. This helps to ensure that the hanger bearing is
correctly aligned to the driveline under all operating conditions.
Use the same service procedures for a self-aligning center bearing
as for a standard center bearing. You can identify a self-aligning
center bearing by the bright gold color of the integral defl ector.
Defl ectors are integral to a self-aligning center bearing, so separate
defl ectors are not required.
Most vehicles are equipped with self-aligning center bearings.

• If you replace a self-aligning center bearing: You must
install a new self-aligning center bearing.
