Pre-Installation Requirements
Operating System
The IDP Management Server software is compatible with the following operating
systems:
Red Hat 7.2
Red Hat 8
Red Hat Advanced Server 3.0
Red Hat Enterprise Server 3.0
Red Hat Work Station 3.0
Sun Solaris 8 for SPARC
Sun Solaris 9 for SPARC
Partition Information
When installing the operating system, use the following recommendations as
guidelines.
/boot – 1024MB
/tmp – 1024MB
swap – 2xMemory
/ - 5GB to 10GB
/ - Fill up Drive
Juniper Networks recommends all systems be hardened and updated with the latest
patches.
Other Software Requirements
Additionally, the following are software dependencies required to be installed before
starting the IDP Management Server installation. (need to make sure we work on
this list --- Red Hat calls things RPM's and Solaris is called Packages)
Red Hat RPMs
GZIP – Compression RPM — This package is typically installed by default with
Red Hat.
uudecode — Install this utility from the Management Server CD by entering the
following command:
rpm -Uvh sharutils-4.2.1-8.7.x.i386.rpm
