Connecting Management Ports

Your IDP Sensor comes with two management ports: an Ethernet management
port (MGT) and a serial console port. Use the serial console port to configure the
Ethernet management port IP address. Use the Ethernet management port to
access the Sensor's onboard Appliance Configuration Manager (ACM) interface,
either directly or over the network.
In daily operation, the MGT port must be connected to the network. The MGT port
allows the Sensor to talk to the IDP Management Server.

Use the Serial Console Port to Change the MGT Port IP Address

The Ethernet management port on your IDP Sensor comes with a default IP address
of 192.168.1.1. You will need to change this value to access the ACM over the
network and to connect the Sensor to the IDP Management Server.
To connect the serial CONSOLE port to your workstation and access the Sensor:
1. Connect one end of the provided DB-9 null modem serial cable to the
2. Connect the other end of the cable into the serial port of your workstation.
