Chapter 4
Configuring the IDP Sensor

Before You Begin

This chapter describes how to connect to the IDP Sensor and configure the device
for your network using the Application Configuration Manager (ACM), a Web-based
tool. After you have used the ACM to configure the Sensor, you need to connect the
device in your network.

Ensure that the following conditions are met:
You have mounted the Sensor.
You have decided on the IP address of the computer where the Management
Server software will be installed.
Before you proceed with the ACM connection and configuration, determine all the
network addressing information for the device. See Table 10 for a summary of the
information you need to complete the ACM configuration.
The sections in Table 10 correspond to sections in the ACM.

Section
Configuration Information
Setup
IDP Sensor root and admin passwords (default is abc123).
The new passwords you want to assign to the root and admin accounts.
The fully qualified hostname that you want to assign to the Sensor.
Mode
Deployment mode you have chosen: sniffer, router, bridge, transparent, or
proxy-ARP
Also, your decision for High Availability or not.
