Installing the Optional Back-up Battery Kit:

Installation & Maintenance
INDeX 30
1. Ensure that the mains supply is switched off and remove the front cover from the
cabinet. Ensure that the safety earth lead has been fitted (see page 9).
With the front cover removed, hazardous voltages exist on the PSU board.
Both the ac supply and the Back-up Battery can generate these voltages.
2. Remove the blanking plate (ensure that the blank is removed from the cabinet)
from the left hand side of the cabinet and fit the Battery Back-up Kit On/Off
switch into the case socket as shown below. Ensure that the switch is set to the
Off position. Do not fit the On/Off switch plug on to the PSU board at this stage.
3. Fit the Battery Back-up On/Off switch label below the Battery Back-up On/Off
switch. Fit an additional safety earth (see page 9).
4. Mount the battery into it's frame and secure with the plastic strap. Fit the two
supply leads to the battery, taking care to fit the red lead (with inline fuse) to the
positive terminal.
5. Secure the Battery Back-up Kit, with the two screws provided, into the cabinet.
6. Connect the battery leads to the connection terminals on the PSU board, taking
care to fit the red lead (with inline fuse) to the positive terminal.
7. Fit the On/Off switch plug to the PSU board. Replace the front cover of the
cabinet and secure with the two retaining screws.

8. Reconnect the ac mains supply and switch the battery Back-up switch to On.
Notes:
1. The Battery Back-up Kit is supplied fully charged. However, if the battery
requires charging, ensure that the Battery Back-up Kit switch is in the On
position and allow 24 hours for the battery to fully charge.
2. The Battery is charged, but will not supply the system until the mains supply
is first switched on.
3. The INDeX 30 will operate for up to typically 20 mins when running from
batteries.

To test the Back-up Battery:

1. Ensure that the ac mains supply is switched on.
2. Check that the Battery Back-up switch is set to On. The yellow LED on the front
of the cabinet will illuminate.
3. Disconnect the ac mains supply. The green LED will go out and the yellow LED
will illuminate to show that the INDeX 30 is running on batteries.
