INDeX 30
You can download the database from the system onto the programming PC. You
can then upload the database file onto another system for study or keep it as a long
term archive copy. It is strongly recommended that you make a back-up disc of the
downloaded database (use any of the freely available compression utilities to reduce
the file size before copying to disc. A copy disc should be stored on-site.
– Note: Downloading the database does not take the IVM Lite prompts and
messages. To download the voice prompts and messages, use the following
instructions for FTP Database Download, but use the file name vs instead of db.
Downloading with Kermit is not recommended, but if used, then select
Download from System | IVM Lite.
1. Start your command line FTP program.
– In Windows 95, 98 and NT, select Start | Run and enter ftp.
2. Enter open n where n is the IP address of the INDeX.
3. When requested enter your username.
4. When requested enter your password.
5. Enter bin to ensure that FTP file transfers user binary mode.
6. Enter hash if you want a visual indication of the transfer of data packets.
7. Enter get db fn where fn is the file path to save the database file to.
8. Enter quit to end the FTP connection.
