INDeX 30
This sections covers only the most basic aspect of system programming required to
install an INDeX 30 system. Full system programming is highly dependent on
customer requirements (refer to the INDeX 9.1 Programming Manual for details).
However, before handing over the system, some basic Initial Programming must be
performed and the following paragraphs provide the detail.
The INDeX 30 supports programming through either serial ports or a 10/100 Base-T
ethernet port connection.
Through its serial ports, the INDeX 30 supports programming via serial cable
connections. This can be either a direct serial cable connection or a modem serial
connection.
– Comms Programs :
The INDeX 30 can be programmed using any terminal or communication
software that supports DEC VT100 emulation. To ensure that you see the full
range of screen characters and accents the program must use a font that
supports the ANSI character set, for example with Windows Hyperterm use the
Courier New or Fixedsys fonts.
– Kermit V 2.29b :
Kermit V2.29b is a file transfer protocol built into the INDeX for serial port file
uploads and downloads. Kermit V2.29b must be used on the programming PC
for uploads and downloads. Kermit V2.29b does not support the full ANSI
character set. Hence, when programming in languages that require accents,
etc., some menu characters will not be displayed correctly. Therefore, when
programming in languages that require accents, etc. it is recommended that you
use Windows Hyperterm with either the Courier New or Fixedsys fonts.
