9.6.7.2 To do a check of the wheel speed after a
transmission replacement
1. Remove the front end of the control stay (A) from the
chassis.
2. Make sure that the linkage moves freely and that the
recoil spring (C) pushes the adjustment screw (B)
against the panel. The adjustment screw must touch
the panel.
3. Start the engine and push the forward pedal to full
speed position and keep a constant speed.
4. Measure the rpm of the front wheel at full throttle
(FMU rpm). Refer to
tachometer on page 18 .
5. Measure the speed of the rear wheel at full throttle
(VRMU rpm).

6. Divide the VRMU rpm with the FMU rpm. The result
must be 1.35-1.38. If you do not get this result,
adjust the wheel speed. Refer to
speed after a transmission replacement on page
62 .
7. Attach the control stay to the chassis when the
wheel speed is correct. Make sure that you put the
washer between the control stay and the chassis.
9.6.7.3 To adjust the wheel speed after a
transmission replacement
1. Loosen the locknut (A).
2. Adjust the speed of the rear axle with the adjustment
screw (B). Turn clockwise to decrease the speed
and counterclockwise to increase the speed.

Note: Turn the adjustment screw carefully. Small
movements give large differences.
3. Tighten the locknut (A).

4. Do a check of the wheel speed. Refer to
measure rpm with tachometer on page 18 .
