Basics
2.2 The work plan
Main aspect of programming with ShopTurn is the "Work plan" in the editor
window. The structure of the "Work plan" is as below:
Program header (with the base settings for the program, like measure-
ment units, work offset, blank dimensions, etc.)
Program blocks (the program steps with the technologies/cycles)
End of program (where you can finish the program and adjust the
numbers of workpieces you want to machine, see also picture below)
2.2.1 Program header
The program header contains the dimensions of the blank for the simula-
tion, as well as the parameters that influence the whole program:
Work offset
Spindle
Measurement units in mm or inch
Tool axes X, Y or Z
Retraction plane, tool change point, safety distance, speed limits etc.
In the work plan, the programm header is at the beginning of the program
and is labelled with the icon
corresponding parameters.
.
2.2.2 Program blocks
Program blocks are programmed machining steps which are shown in the
editor in single rows, marked with an icon and text, representing the cor-
responding technology and the entered parameters (alike the picture be-
low).
2.2.3 Chained sequential program blocks
The Sinumerik Operate automatically links the tech-
nology blocks, position blocks or geometry blocks
in a well defined manner. These blocks are highlighted
by a square bracket immediately next to the machining
symbol from the start to the end of the linkage.
