Amplitude/Offset Correction
Factor Commands
These commands enable automatic correction for amplitude and offset
errors caused by external attenuators, cable droop or equalizer
circuits. They are supported by the following modules: E4861B,
E4810A, E4811A, E4866A, E4867A, and N4872 ... N4875A.
The new parameters are:
• Offset Correction Factor (available for electrical generator and
analyzer channels)
• Amplitude Correction Factor (available for electrical generator
channels)
• Correction Factor Hold Mode (available for electrical generator
channels)
These parameters are convenient functions for correcting for any
changes in the signal voltage between the ParBERT and the DUT. The
voltages of the signal leaving or arriving at the ParBERT are
recalculated so that they correspond with the required signals of the
DUT.
The value range for the correction factors is from 0.0 to 1.0, with 1.0
being the default value.
The values have to be understood as the multiplication factor that is
required to calculate the levels at the DUT side, from the levels at the
ParBERT side. A value of 0.0 has the special meaning of assuming AC-
coupling. In this case, the generator levels will be symmetrical around
0 V with a termination voltage of 0 V. In the case of an analyzer
channel, the termination voltage is forced to 0 V, while the threshold
voltage remains untouched.
For correction factors other from 1.0, all the level parameters have to
be considered being specified at the DUT side of the connection.
Note that the internal parameter checks have to deal with the levels at
the frontends, so the error messages might show voltages that are
different to what is specified for the DUT side.
