Symptom:
*CHECKING THE EVAP SYSTEM
EVAP PURGE SOLENOID VACUUM HOSE
EVAP PURGE SOLENOID LEAKING
EVAP PURGE SOLENOID RESTICTION
EVAP CANISTER VACUUM FEED HOSE
EVAP CANISTER VENT VALVE HOSE
EVAP CANISTER OUTPUT HOSE BETWEEN THE CANISTER AND THE FUEL TANK
TEST

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the EVAP Purge Solenoid hose assembly
Connect a vacuum gauge to the vacuum side of the hose assembly.
Start the engine and observe the vacuum gauge.
Is the vacuum above 13 inches of vacuum?
Yes → Go To 2
No

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the EVAP Purge Solenoid hose assembly.
Connect a vacuum pump to the vacuum port side of the EVAP Purge Solenoid
component side.
Apply 10 inches of vacuum to the EVAP Purge Solenoid.
Does the EVAP purge Solenoid hold vacuum?
Yes → Go To 3
No

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the EVAP Purge Solenoid hose assembly.
Connect a vacuum pump to the vacuum port side of the EVAP Purge Solenoid
component side.
Apply 10 inches of vacuum to the EVAP Purge Solenoid.
With the DRBIII , actuate the EVAP Purge Solenoid.
Does vacuum drop to zero when the EVAP Purge Solenoid is actuated?
Yes → Go To 4
No
POSSIBLE CAUSES
ACTION
→ Repair vacuum hose or vacuum source as necessary.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 2.
→ Replace the EVAP Purge Solenoid.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 2.
→ Replace the EVAP Purge Solenoid.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 2.
