operating fluids.
Always store operating fluids sealed in

their original containers.
Always keep children away from operat‐

ing fluids.

pollution due to disposing of operating
fluids in a non-environmentally responsi‐
ble manner
Operating fluids include the following:
fuels

exhaust gas aftertreatment additives, e.g.

DEF
lubricants
R
Incorrect disposal of operating fluids can
cause considerable damage to the environ‐
ment.
Dispose of operating fluids in an envi‐
#
ronmentally responsible manner.
Operating fluids include the following:

coolant
R
brake fluid
R
windshield washer fluid
R
climate control system refrigerants
R
Use only products recommended by Mercedes-
Benz. Damage caused by the use of products that
have not been approved is not covered by the
Mercedes-Benz guarantee or goodwill gestures.
You can identify operating fluids approved by
Mercedes-Benz by the following inscriptions on
the container:
MB-Freigabe (e.g. MB-Freigabe 229.51)

MB-Approval (e.g. MB-Approval 229.51)

& WARNING Risk of fire or explosion from
fuel
Fuels are highly flammable.
Fire, open flames, smoking and creation

of sparks must be avoided.
Switch off the ignition and, if available,
#
the stationary heater, before and while
refueling the vehicle.
& WARNING Risk of injury from fuels
Fuels are poisonous and hazardous to your
health.
Do not swallow fuel or let it come into
#
contact with skin, eyes or clothing.
Do not inhale fuel vapor.
#
Keep children away from fuel.
#
Keep doors and windows closed during
#
the refueling process.
If you or other people come into contact with
fuel, observe the following:
Immediately rinse fuel off your skin with
#
soap and water.
If fuel comes into contact with your
#
eyes, immediately rinse them thor‐
oughly with clean water. Seek medical
attention immediately.
If you swallow fuel, seek medical atten‐
#
tion immediately. Do not induce vomit‐
ing.
Change immediately out of clothing that
#
has come into contact with fuel.
